Colors for tri suit

Club, see pic.  This is the Frederick Maryland jersey I have and I like these colors.  Maybe more blue than yellow but I do like the red, blue, yellow, black combo.  Comments?  Any other thoughts?Dave pose rest stop 1 SGC 07

2008 goals

Hi – wanted to post my 2008 goals so that perhaps we can train together or go to the events together.  I don’t work so most of my training is during the weekdays.

I swim/float at the Mt Airy Health Unlimited Gym, run in downtown Frederick on Saturday mornings so that I can get a bagel at the end at the Beans-n-Bagels on Patrick Street, the other days I run in my neighborhood (Ijamsville)  and now bike either on my trainer at home or at the gym spin class.

March 2  Baltimore/Annapolis Trail (paved) 1/2 marathon

April 6    Cherry Blossom 10 miler

May 4     Frederick 1/2 marathon

July 20   Pittsburgh Olympic Triathlon (maybe but I hear the river is quite oily)

August 24  Iron Girl

September ?  Annapolis Olympic Triathlon

October 11  Baltimore 1/2 marathon

November 2  Bermuda Olympic Triathlon (maybe)

Happy Training,

Tracy Vagrin

My club logo attempt

Hey club!  Well, I haven’t gotten anything for a logo and such, so here’s my attempt:Dave’s attempt at FTC logo

Mike Matney was also thinking I think about Pace Makers or Pace Setters for a team name.  Hank thought Frederick Pacers.  BTW, the Pacers are an NBA team.

I also like Red, Yellow, Blue, and Black for tri suit colors.  I have a cycling jersey like that and the colors go together well.  The black could actually just be used for lettering as well as white.

Any other creative folks out there?  We need to have this established soon.

Swim Buddies

Hey everyone!

If you are interested in swimming at Fort Detrick, I have a couple of slots available. I am locking my training schedule in and have two slots open.

The times are Tuesday Morning at 6 AM and Friday evening roughly between 5 and 7 PM.

The cost is $4.00 per session and I can only sponsor one person at  each of these times.  We are trying to get some others at Fort Detrick to help in sponsoring at these and other times as well.  More information to follow.

Best regards in your efforts!

Nutritional Supplements – Are You Ready?

Hey everyone!

Hope you are having a great start to your training season. If you are like me you are looking for every corner you can cut in spending…. so is anyone interested in the power of group purchasing “supplements”?

I suggest we take an inventory of what folks are using and see what our sponsors can do to help.

Lets look at putting a first take together by the next club meeting. If you can not attend the meeting just post a comment here on this message.  Spring races are just around the corner!

 Keep on tri-ing!

What an opportunity!!

Neil Semmel has done it!! A sprint and half lite (more than Olympic less than a half iron) race in Greenbrier State Park. That is right! Right here in our own back yard.  Here are the details.

Might be a good race to volunteer at if it is out of your season!

 Keep on Tri-ing!

Oh my gosh! Is that an alien on him?

Dave’s VO2 Max test on his bike

No, it’s just Dave being a “guinea pig” for our newest sponsor, Fundamental Fitness.  Eva Rosvold asked for a volunteer during her talk at our last meeting and I said “Sign me up!”  It was an interesting experience as I maxed out the resistence on my gears and trainer during the 15 minute test.  Talk about sweating buckets!!  Anyway, after the test, Eva discussed the results with me.  I was pleased to find out that for my, umm, …..age and vital stats, I fell into the superior range with 54.8 being my VO2 Max!  That was a bit surprising actually.  There were numerous other numbers that we went over.  If you can, the VO2 Max and Metabolism tests are something that could help determine your training zones.  Just another tool to use to improve.  —Dave

Dave on vacation – send pics to Hank please

Hey club, I’m on vacation until Jan 23 and won’t be able to post any logo ideas to the site.  Please send to Hank using the club’s email and he’ll either post them on the site or ask one of the other admins.

 Thanks

First FTC Polar Bear Plunge and Social a huge success!

Hey club!  For those that couldn’t attend, wanted to let all know that the First Annual FTC Polar Bear Plunge and Beginning of Season Social at Julian Coiner’s house at Lake Linganore was a huge success!  Check out the pics on the Pictures page for some great shots of FTC members taking the plunge in their own unique style.  We all appreciated Julien’s and his family’s hospitality in hosting this hopefully yearly event.  Great food, good friends, and terrific entertainment!  One not to miss next year.
