Mid-Atlantic Multisports Boot Camps

Hey club!  Mike Matney and I found these at one of our events this past season and these look like a great way to get an edge up on the competition before that first race.  They’re not too far away and the cost is reasonable in my opinion for what you get.  Lodging isn’t included, though, which could be a bit of a problem.  Still, a way to learn about what you’re doing right, wrong, and ways to improve.  Check them out!

Christmas Day ride?

Looking to shed a bit of too much holiday cheer?  Well, join club prez Hank for a Christmas Day ride on route 26, starting around noon from his house.  From Hank:

“As long as the weather holds, we will be meeting at my house (1649 coopers way, in dearbought) for a Christmas Day ride on Tuesday at noon.  Please let me know if you will be joining us, so that we know who to expect and, if need be, wait for.  It should be decent weather.  Please also check your email as we get closer to the ride in case the weather changes.”

Eva Rosvold, owner and operator of Fundamental Fitness, one of our potential new sponsors, will be coming in to talk to us about V02 Max testing and other fitness testing.  I think this will be a really neat talk and help us all understand our caloric needs and metabolic conditioning.  As always the meeting will be at 7pm.  We’ll be meeting at Bike Doctor on Buckeystown Pike (route 85).

SETUP Events Kinetic Half and Sprint Weekend

Hey everyone!!
Here are two great races to begin your 2008 season! Start with a early season Half Iron or a traditional sprint race. Both are open water swims and help get the junk out of your trunk!

The half starts at  8:00 AM, Saturday, April 19, and the sprint starts at 10:00 AM on Sunday, April 20, 2008.

I plan on doing the sprint as a season opener and a “C-B” race, if you are interested in car pooling or just going to see the race let me know.  Registration opens at 7:00 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2008. Here is the link www.setupevents.com select Virginia and you will see the races they have.

I have raced two races through SETUP and they are extremely organized and USAT compliant. It was beautiful last year. The water is cold, bring a wetsuit!
